Mercury has been a principal player in Pittsburgh's music scene for over eight years. With an unparalleled, relentless work ethic, the high energy, original rock band has developed a solid reputation, persistently headlining local venues and sharing stages with such national acts as Live, Puddle of Mud, and Seether. After winning the 2001 Graffiti Rock Challenge, the band combined its efforts with producer Sean McDonald to create a self titled album that has sent its singles, "Paralyze" and "Out of the Black" across airwaves in Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, and Erie. A third single, "Superhero," earned Mercury the title of best unsigned band on www.alternativeaddiction.com. Similarly, readers of the Pittsburgh City Paper voted Mercury the #2 "Best Local Rock Band" (behind The Clarks) in its 2002 Readers' Choice Awards. The band released a follow-up EP,
Automatic Savior, in 2006, providing Mercury's loyal fan base with singles such as "Automatic Savior" and "The Beautiful." The band is currently in pre-production on a third studio recording.
