New York Dolls

Festival Main Stage

Sunday, June 15 : 7:30 pm
Before the Sex Pistols and the Stooges, there were the New York Dolls, punk rock pioneers with glam rock aesthetics. Coming out of New York City in 1971, the Dolls helped to launch the American punk movement with their squealing guitars and camp-loving lyrics. Bad timing and tragedy afflicted the band but in 2004 the two surviving members of the Dolls - front man David Johansen and guitarist Sylvain Sylvain - came together to reunite the band and in 2006, released their third album, One Day It Will Please Us to Remember Even This. They may be a bit more mature, but the Dolls' sound is still as exciting and raw as ever.
