Poets and Photographers Share Love for Pittsburgh

12 May 2008 by Lauren in News

PITTSBURGH – 88 local artists commemorate Pittsburgh’s 250th birthday
in poems and photographs for Along These Rivers, a 4th River project at
the 2008 Three Rivers Arts Festival. All Along These Rivers artists are
contributors to a book of the same title, edited by Judith R. Robinson
and Michael Wurster. The project captures some of Pittsburgh’s finest
talents, as they attempt to capture the essence of the city itself.

 ”Along
These Rivers is, in part, an expression of the poets’ and
photographers’ love affair with Pittsburgh – its people, history,
topography, traditions and unique ways,” said Robinson. “There is
homage to Pittsburgh, but the visionary contributors also take us along
with them into worlds beyond.”

Contributing poets will read at 3
pm, Saturday, June 7, 2008, at the Three Rivers Arts Festival Gallery,
937 Liberty Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh. Tickets for the poetry
reading are $5, available by calling 412.456.6666 or visiting the
Festival website at www.artsfestival.net.

The photography
exhibition will be on display June 6-11, 2008, at the Three Rivers Arts
Festival Gallery at 937 Liberty Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh. Gallery
hours are 12 noon – 8 pm daily. Admission is free.

Along These Rivers is supported in part by a Seed Award from the Sprout Fund.
