PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, 91.3 WYEP and the Three Rivers Arts Festival are pleased to announce CD Live! presents Madeleine Peyroux at 8 pm, Sunday, June 21, 2009, at the Byham Theater in downtown Pittsburgh. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 17, 2009.

French-American singer Madeleine Peyroux originally drew critical notice for her ability to cover material associated with Billie Holiday, Bessy Smith, Patsy Cline and even Edith Piaf. Since her debut 1996 release Dreamland, Peyroux has become one of the best-selling female jazz singers of all time.

Peyroux’ 2009 release Bare Bones marks the singer-songwriter’s first album of all-original work. Peyroux says the album builds from wariness, to loss, to acceptance, and finally to hope. “I’m really happy that I got to write,” says Peyroux. “It feels like a new segment, and it’s great work. I’m surrounded by beautiful sounds, really honest musicians, really honest playing.”

Tickets ($34.50) go on sale Friday, April 17, 2009, at 9 a.m. at the Theater Square Box Office and online at pgharts.org. For more information, call 412.456.6666
