Fan-Favorite Grungegrass Trio Returns to the Three Rivers Arts Festival

|

Three Rivers Arts Festival favorites The Avett Brothers return to deliver another uplifting, down-home good time performance at 7:30 pm, Saturday, June 21, 2008, on the Three Rivers Arts Festival Main Stage. All Festival Main Stage performances are free and open to the public.

North Carolina natives Seth and Scott Avett enlisted the help of Bob Crawford to form the group in 2000. The Avett Brothers cite ten album releases to date, plus years of vigorous touring. The group eschews traditional genre labels, but some attempts include folk-punk or roots-pop. It's bluegrass with a touch of something evasive and decidedly modern.

"The Avett Brothers are all about celebration, and so is the Festival," says Elizabeth Reiss, TRAF Executive Director. "They are insightful without being heavy and fun without being shallow. The Avett Brothers were such a popular act at the 2007 Three Rivers Arts Festival that we had to bring them again in 2008."
