Roots-Reggae Due Harmonizes the Three Rivers Arts Festival
Reggae harmony duo Israel Vibration will bring their emotional sounds to the Three Rivers Arts Festival on Tuesday, June 17, 2008, on the Festival Main Stage. Special guest Outlaw Nation opens the show at 6:30 pm; Israel Vibration plays at 7:30 pm. All Three Rivers Arts Festival Main Stage performances are free and open to the public.
Jamaica's Israel Vibration formed in the 1970s and quickly grew popular, thanks to their socially conscious lyrics and haunting vocal harmonies. Originally a trio, the members met at the Mona Rehabilitation Clinic, where all were being treated for polio. After regaining their health, the trio went on release numerous studio and live albums while promoting their Rastafarian viewpoint and garner critical acclaim.
Since 1997, Israel Vibration has existed as a duo, but their sound has remained the same. Their strong roots reggae groove has a positive message, with lyrics that promote hope and unity. Vibration's live shows remains vibrant and fans still eagerly await new studio albums from this celebrated group.
"I can't think of a better way to spend a summer night in the city than attending an outdoor reggae concert," said Festival Executive Director, Elizabeth Reiss, "and Israel Vibration has one of the best live reggae shows around."
Israel Vibration will be joined by Outlaw Nation, a Louisiana band that creatively blends the sounds of reggae and hip-hop.
