Horn-Driven Rock Blasts the Three Rivers Arts Festival
Rustic Overtones will bring their blazing sound and white-hot horn section to the Three Rivers Arts Festival Main Stage at 7:30 pm, Thursday, June 12, 2008. All Three Rivers Arts Festival Main Stage performances are free and open to the public.
For many bands, having two major label record deals fall through would be enough to make them give up. Although Rustic Overtones did call it quits for a few years, the musical bond between the band members, and their rabid legion of fans, was too strong to ignore. The group reunited in 2007 and has been going strong ever since, touring and cutting new material.
Hailing from Portland, Maine, Rustic Overtones draws comparisons from a variety of acts including Earth, Wind, and Fire, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Dave Matthews Band. Their past albums have featured guest artists such as Imogen Heap and David Bowie. Their fifth and most recent album, Light at the End, highlights the multitude of sounds that the band is known for: from acoustic folk to driving funk, all topped off with the soulful vocals of front man, Dave Gutter.
"Rustic Overtones has a devoted group of hometown fans in Maine," says Elizabeth Reiss, Festival Executive Director. "Now that they're back together, we're excited to present them to Pittsburgh's music-loving audiences."
