Grammy-Winning Lynne Covers Dusty Springfield and More
Grammy Award-winning songstress Shelby Lynne will serenade Pittsburgh crowds in her Three Rivers Arts Festival debut at 7:30 pm, Friday, June 20, 2008, on the Festival Main Stage. All Three Rivers Arts Festival main stage performances are free and open to the public.
Awarded a Grammy for Best New Artist nearly a decade into her career, Lynne's husky voice and soulful performances have garnished critical acclaim. Her twelve albums span country, rock, jazz and pop, and 2008's Just a Little Lovin', her most recent release, features Lynne's simple renditions of classic Dusty Springfield tunes. Her music exposes her fundamental vulnerability and subtle independence, reflecting an exchange of influences that manifest themselves in her collection of raw and heartfelt originals and masterfully redefined covers.
"The Three Rivers Arts Festival tries to present artists who either epitomize a style or defy genre altogether," says Elizabeth Reiss, Festival Executive Director. "Shelby Lynne has done both, so we're excited to present her for the first time this year."
