Creative Cakes Grace the Three Rivers Arts Festival
PITTSBURGH - No birthday party is complete without cake, and this year Pittsburgh's 250th birthday will feature (non-perishable) cakes from members of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. Icing on the Cake, a visual arts exhibition for the Three Rivers Arts Festival, will be open daily from 12-8 pm, June 6-22, 2008, at the PPG Place Wintergarden in downtown Pittsburgh.
The special cakes for this party will come in all shapes and sizes, and all kinds of media. Any subject matter will do, so long as there's cake.
The installation is part of a 3-year partnership between the Three Rivers Arts Festival and the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. This partnership has already resulted in the exciting exhibit Contained, and will only lead to more dynamic and original projects that create a public dialogue of art and society.
To top off the sweet celebration, there will be a closing reception June 22 called Ice the Cakes with awards and edible desserts including, of course, cake. This great family event is from 4-6 pm and requires a ticket. Tickets for Ice the Cakes are $10.
