Volunteer

We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to fill all kinds of positions during the Festival. We can't present 17 days of programming without you! Instructions for applying to volunteer at the 2008 Festival will be posted soon.

New in 2008
Beginning this year, the Three Rivers Arts Festival is undertaking a multi-year effort to become environmentally friendly. TRAF’s goal for the 2008 Festival is to create a new waste management scheme for the disposal of biodegradable food service products. For event attendees, this means an additional, unfamiliar, sorting option when they reach the waste station. This waste management scheme requires an intense educational outreach effort in order to be successful.

Available Positions

Information Booth

Help guide the public around the Festival, sharing with them special events and performances happening at the festival that day. Sell t-shirts and other merchandise.

Artists Market Booth Sitters

Booth Sitters are responsible for relieving artists who have signed up for sitters to watch their booth in order for them to take a break. Sitters do not make sales.

Load-In and Load-Out Assistance

Help market artists get settled into their booths by finding their booth location and helping to unload their vehicles. Artists will also need help loading their vehicles at the end of their session. This position can be labor intensive, and requires some heavy lifting. Shifts begin at 8pm on load-out days.

Family Festival Monitors

As part of the Family Festival, Creative Reuse Pittsburgh is offering both a community art project and a “make ‘n take” activity, each re-using unique raw materials that are normally discarded by area businesses. Volunteers may help with set-up and take-down, re-stock materials, keep the space clean, take pictures, or support and encourage participants in both activities.

Gallery Attendants

Make sure the artwork is secure; oversee the public while inside the gallery to assure that no damage will come to the artwork or the gallery. Interact with attendees and record attendance.

Rovers

Fill in wherever needed and relieve volunteers as necessary.

Flex Help

For the adventurous only! If you are flexible and would like to throw in a hand wherever is necessary, then this is the position for you.

Compost Ambassadors

Serve as the Festival’s primary educators to show the general public how they can make an environmentally friendly choice with their waste. Ambassadors help patrons to sort their waste into the proper containers (compostables, recyclables, and trash).
